The Laboratory of Ion Beam Physics (LIP) serves as a national and international center for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) and for material sciences based on ion beam technology. Strong support from the ETH Department of Physics (D-PHYS) and a board of trustees (D-ERDW of ETH Zurich, Eawag, Empa and Paul Scherrer Institute) enables LIP to provide significant contributions in our different fields of research. We have at our disposal sophisticated instrumentation with dedicated accelerator facilities covering the energy range from 40 keV to 50 MeV. The mission of the laboratory comprises fundamental research in ion beam technologies, instrumental developments and applications of ion beam technologies. In addition, we contribute to the educational program of ETH and provide service for external users.
