"Pushing the size limits of Radiocarbon Analysis"

An International Exploratory Workshop, 13 - 16 September 2011

NEWS

14-2-2012 Report of the workshop is now published in EOS (vol 97, no 7, 14 February 2012), and can be downloaded here

16-2-2012 A questionnaire about small scale Radiocarbon standard now available.
The idea is that the standard set will consist of a number of substances or compounds, or matrices that contain a relatively high concentration of a substance of interest. Enough of each standard should be bought or generated so that it will not run out anytime soon, or it should be possible to renew the standard relatively easy. The “small-scale 14C standard committee” will organize access and distribution. One or more radiocarbon laboratories will measure the 14C content of the standards as precisely as possible.
Please click on the link to the left for the Questionnaire, or download here

===========================

The aim of the workshop is to bring together (potential) specialists both from the 'technical' side and the 'user' side, in order to exchange knowledge and ideas with respect to the practice (how?) and use (applications) of small-scale radiocarbon analysis (<50 microgram). Nearly 60 participants have registered.

Location

The meeting will be held at the ETH Zürich, Switzerland, and is hosted by the Geological Institute and the Laboratory of Ion Beam Physics.
The workshop will start on Tuesday 13 September 17:00h with registration and drinks & buffet at the Geological Institute, Sonneggstrasse 5, Zürich. Note: It is building “NO”.

Except for the opening evening, the workshop will be held at the
Hönggerberg Campus of ETH: http://www.ethz.ch/about/location/hoengg/index_EN.
Details on lecture room numbers etc will be provided on Tuesday evening during registration.
